About Euniversal Appeal

Profile - Magazine

Hi, I’m Euniboobie. I’m embarrassingly but unapologetically nerdy about food, and this site is an expression of said geekery. Also, while I’ll never be a father, I’m dad-level skilled at terrible puns, as you’ve probably already noticed by the name of this site. You might call this/me a “faux pa.” (Oops, I did it again.)

After studying nutrition in university, I went to on to work in marketing in the food industry in Canada. Now I’m working on a masters to better understanding the business side of things, because let’s be honest, we all gotta eat, and to do that, we all gotta make that chedda (pun very much intended). Given my background, I try to take a scientific approach – sometimes hard science, sometimes more social science – to thinking about where food comes from, how it ends up in our mouths, and what it does to our bodies and minds.

This blog was the birthed in reaction to a comment I kept hearing at dinner parties whenever I started talking about food-related things: “You should write a blog!” I’m not sure if that was my friends’ very polite way of saying “Please shut up and let other people speak” or if there was genuine interest in some of the things that got me excited. The idea behind this site is to use food’s universal appeal (more pun alert!) as a jump-off point to discuss topics that are of interest to me, and hopefully also to you: marketing, culture, history, economics, science, humour, and of course, recipes. I don’t intend for this to be a pure recipe blog because when it comes to cooking, I’m really a hack: I love it and do it all the time, but I have zero professional training and my technique would make real chefs cringe.

So welcome, thanks for stopping by, and civil feedback would be most lovely.
